ST Engineering posts 3.3% higher Q2 net profit of $148 mil

ST Engineering reported a net profit of $147.9 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2013 (2Q13), up 3.3% a year ago.

Earnings per share for 2Q13 worked out to 4.78 cents, up from 4.67 cents in 2Q12.

Revenue rose to $1.59 billion, 1.7% higher from $1.57 billion previously.

The increase came on the back of positive contributions from most of its business segments. In particular, the marine sector reported a 12% increase in revenue to $311 million, on the back of higher shipbuilding activities in Singapore.

ST Engineering announced that its aerospace arm, ST Aerospace has won new orders worth about $600 million in the third quarter of 2013.

The new orders involve projects ranging from airframe, component and engine maintenance, to commercial airline cabin retrofit and freighter conversions.

Included in the 3Q2013 contracts is an order of 17 passenger-to-freighter (PTF) conversions received from an international air freight carrier, bringing to 119 the total number of aircraft contracted for the Boeing 757-200 PTF conversion programme.

In the cabin interior business, ST Aerospace won a cabin reconfiguration project for two Boeing 767-300 airplanes for an Asian airliner.

In the third quarter, ST Aerospace redelivered a total of 245 aircraft for airframe maintenance and modification work. This is in addition to the five Boeing 757-200 converted freighters redelivered during the quarter. Besides airframe redeliveries, the aerospace sector processed 11,360 components, 59 landing gears, 57 engines and conducted 1,570 engine washes for both commercial and military customers.

ST Engineering reported a 10% drop in net profit to $131.4 million for the third quarter ended 30 September 2013, as expectation of the QE3 scale-back weighed heavily on global corporate sentiment and business confidence.

The group posted $1.55 billion in revenue compared to $1.54 billion a year ago. Group profit before tax (PBT) declined 8% to $170.3 million from the same period last year.

The Aerospace sector posted comparable revenue of $510 million. The Electronics sector registered comparable revenue of $350 million. Revenue for the Land Systems sector dropped 11% to $348 million. Revenue for the Marine sector surged 25% to $296 million.

新子公司LeeBoy Brazil是为在巴西进行生产活动而成立。新科工程将以1,710万雷亚尔(约920万元)向巴西建筑设备公司Ticel Equipamentos购买生产活动方面的资产、知识产权及相关的生产技术。

新子公司的缴足股本为2,000万雷亚尔(约1,080万元)，即相等于每股1雷亚尔的2,000万股股票。

ST Engineering announced that its aerospace unit, Singapore Technologies Aerospace, has recorded new orders worth $460 million in the first quarter (1Q) of 2014. These contracts cover a wide range of the aerospace sector’s suite of capabilities, from airframe, component and engine maintenance, to cabin reconfiguration and engine wash.

Included in the contracts is a two-year agreement with a major airline for heavy maintenance of 20 Embraer E-190 aircraft at ST Aerospace’s San Antonio facility. The unit has also signed a contract with Aircalin, New Caledonia’s international airline for C-level checks on three Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft. This is the inaugural partnership between ST Aerospace and Aircalin – the first A320 has since been redelivered, with the last maintenance check scheduled for completion in third quarter this year.

In 1Q2014, ST Aerospace redelivered a total of 249 aircraft for airframe maintenance and modification work. In addition to airframe deliveries, a total of 10,417 components, 66 landing gears and 44 engines were processed, while 2,280 engine washes were conducted for both commercial and military customers. This includes the redelivery of one Boeing Business Jet and one Boeing 757 aircraft by AERIA Luxury Interiors, ST Aerospace’s VIP completion brand name based in San Antonio, Texas, US.

On aircraft capability development, its airframe facility in Guangzhou has started operations with the induction of the first two aircraft (an Airbus A320 and Boeing 767) respectively from a Chinese regional airline and an international air carrier. Both aircraft are currently in the hangar for C-level and heavy maintenance checks
