Sembcorp Industries, the largest utility in Southeast Asia, is expanding operations in China with water-treatment projects at two industrial parks in Liaoning province.

The wastewater-treatment works to be developed at Panjin Fine Chemical Industrial Park and Panjin Liaodong Bay New District will cost about $62.7 million, Singapore-based Sembcorp said today in a statement.

Panjin Fine Chemical Industrial Park is in Panjin City, where China’s third-biggest oil field, Liaohe Oil Field, is located, it said. Sembcorp also owns and operates the Fujairah 1 water and power plant, one of the world’s largest hybrid desalination plants, in the United Arab Emirates.

Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) said the initial public offering (IPO) of its joint venture in Oman, Sembcorp Salalah Power & Water Company (Sembcorp Salalah) raised around OMR53 million ($173 million), making it the biggest share offer in Oman so far in 2013.

Sembcorp Salalah, which owns and operates the Salalah Independent Power and Water Plant (Salalah IWPP), is expected to start trading of its shares on the Muscat Securities Market on or around Oct 10.

Sembcorp Salalah’s offering of 33.4 million existing shares, representing 35% of its issued share capital, was open for subscription from Aug 28 to Sep 26 in Oman.

Prior to the listing, Sembcorp Salalah was 60% owned by Sembcorp’s wholly-owned subsidiary Sembcorp Utilities, 35% owned by Oman Investment Corporation (OIC) and 5% owned by Bahrain-based BDCC Investment Company.

Post-listing, Sembcorp Utilities now holds a 40% stake in Sembcorp Salalah, while OIC and BDCC hold 21.9% and 3.1% respectively.

Following the IPO, Sembcorp will recognise a total gain of $117 million, comprising a $37 million gain on its 20% equity interest sold through the IPO and a fair value gain of $80 million on re-measurement of its remaining 40% equity interest in the company.

The US$1 billion Salalah IWPP was successfully completed and has been in full commercial operation since May 2012. The facility consists of a gas-fired power plant with a contracted power capacity of 445 megawatts and a reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant with a contracted water capacity of 15 million imperial gallons (69,000 cubic metres) per day. It provides power and water under a 15-year power and water purchase agreement with the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company, which is wholly-owned by the Government of Oman.

The transaction is expected to have a positive impact on the earnings per share of Sembcorp Industries for the current financial year. Assuming that the transaction had been completed on June 30, 2013, the earnings per share of the Group for the first six months of FY2013 (1H2013) would have increased from 19.16 cents per share to 25.71 cents per share. However, the transaction is not expected to have a material impact on the company’s net asset value per share for the current financial year.

Sembcorp Industries said it will be developing a total water management plant to support a coal-to-diesel project in Wangqiao Industrial Park, located in Changzhi city in China’s Shanxi province.

Sembcorp will invest RMB932 million ($189.9 million) to develop this new project, which will be funded by internal resources and external borrowings. Sembcorp will establish a wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp Changzhi Water Co, to manage the plant.

The total water management plant will serve Shanxi Lu’an Group (Lu’an), for its one million tonnes per annum coal-to-diesel project in Wangqiao Industrial Park, under a 15-year service agreement that Sembcorp’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp (China) Holding Co, has secured.

The plant will provide up to 57,600 cubic metres per day of industrial and potable water, 81,600 cubic metres per day of demineralised water and 984,000 cubic metres per day of cooling water, and treat up to 24,000 cubic metres per day of high concentration industrial wastewater and 9,600 cubic metres per day of high salinity industrial wastewater. The plant will also be capable of reclaiming up to 38,400 cubic metres per day of water from treated industrial effluent, aiming to achieve “zero liquid discharge”.

The plant is expected to be completed in phases between late 2014 and 2015.

Sembcorp Industries said it has started commercial operations of a $30 million expansion to its Sembcorp Woodchip Boiler Plant on Jurong Island.

The expansion triples the output of the plant – which produces renewable energy from woodchip, a sustainable alternative fuel derived from waste wood – to 60 tonnes per hour of steam from its initial of 20 tonnes per hour capacity.

Funded through internal resources, the expansion to this green energy plant is in line with Sembcorp’s drive to provide its customers with a competitively priced solution to their steam needs, while reducing their carbon footprint.

The Sembcorp Woodchip Boiler Plant was Sembcorp’s first renewable energy plant in Singapore. Since it began operations in 2011, it has offered an economical, environmentally-friendly source of steam to serve the needs of petrochemical manufacturers in the Sakra area of Jurong Island.

The newly enlarged woodchip boiler plant will use around 400 tonnes per day of woodchip processed from construction and demolition waste collected by Sembcorp’s solid waste management operations, the largest operator in Singapore. It is also estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 70,000 tonnes a year.

Sembcorp is pleased to announce that it will be jointly developing a new industrial wastewater treatment plant in the Caofeidian Chemical Industrial Park in Hebei province, China.

Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp (China) Holding Co, the company has agreed to set up an 80-20 joint venture with Tangshan Caofeidian Yongtai Industry Co, a wholly-owned entity of the Caofeidian Industrial Zone Administrative Committee. The joint venture company, Sembcorp Caofeidian Water Co, will build, own and operate an industrial wastewater treatment plant to serve customers in the chemical industrial park. Targeted to begin operations in late 2015, this wastewater treatment facility will have an initial capacity of 10,000 cubic metres per day and have advanced capabilities to treat high concentration industrial wastewater and high oil content industrial wastewater.

The joint venture’s total investment in the project of around RMB 108.3 million ($22.4 million) will be funded through a mixture of internal sources and external borrowings. Sembcorp’s equity investment in the project of RMB 35 million will be funded through internal sources.

The Caofeidian Chemical Industrial Park is a petrochemical and coal-to-chemicals industrial park that is part of an industrial zone enjoying strong support from the central government. Strategically located along the coast of Hebei province, it is also at the centre of the Bohai Bay Economic Rim, widely considered one of China’s three centres of economic growth alongside the Pearl River and Yangtze River Deltas. The chemical industrial park has close proximity to Tangshan City, which is rich in coal and oil, as well as to a deep water port for the transport of crude oil, coal, iron ore and bulk cargo.

Sembcorp’s joint venture has secured a 30-year exclusive concession agreement to provide wastewater treatment services within a 32-square kilometre area in the chemical industrial park. In addition, it has already secured binding letters of intent from two key customers.

Sembcorp Industries said it has achieved financial close for its new energy-from-waste project in the UK.

The total investment for both the new energy-from-waste facility and waste transfer station amounts to ￡250 million ($513 million). Most of the project cost is being funded through long-term non-recourse project finance loans, enabling construction to begin.

The project involves the development of a facility for the Merseyside and Halton Waste Partnership at the company’s Wilton International industrial site in Teesside, UK, capable of producing up to 49 megawatts of gross power or 190 tonnes per hour of steam using municipal and commercial waste.

The facility will be developed through a 40:40:20 joint venture between Sembcorp, SITA UK (a unit of Suez Environnement), and I-Environment Investments Limited (a unit of ITOCHU Corporation). The joint venture will also be developing a waste transfer station in Knowsley, Merseyside, to transport the waste by rail from Merseyside to the energy-from-waste plant in Teesside. Both facilities are targeted to begin operations in 2016.

Through this facility, Sembcorp will be able to divert waste from landfill, convert waste to energy, reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and also lower carbon emissions. When completed, the plant will divert up to 430,000 tonnes per year of waste from landfill and reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 130,000 tonnes per year, compared to landfilling an equivalent amount of waste.

Sembcorp Industries said its wholly-owned subsidiary has signed an agreement to acquire 45% of NCC Power Projects (NCCPP), which is building a 1,320-megawatt coal-fired power plant along the coast of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

NCCPP’s upcoming plant is located on a site adjacent to Thermal Powertech Corporation India (TPCIL), Sembcorp’s first power plant investment in India. The two plants will utilise the same infrastructure, such as that for coal importation and logistics. They will also be run by the same Sembcorp management team in Nellore.

Sembcorp’s investment for the stake will amount to Rs. 848 crores ($175 million). NCCPP is currently jointly owned by Gayatri Energy Ventures (GEVPL) – Sembcorp’s project partner for the TPCIL plant – and NCC Infrastructure Holdings (NCCIHL), a subsidiary of Indian conglomerate, NCC Limited (NCCL).

Upon completion of the transaction, Sembcorp will hold 45% of NCCPP, while the remaining 55% will be held by NCCIHL, which in turn will be jointly owned by NCCL and GEVPL.

Currently, construction of the NCCPP project is about 30% completed and it is expected to come onstream in early 2016. Financing for the project has also been secured, with 75% of the project cost funded through long-term finance loans and the remainder funded by shareholders’ equity.

Sembcorp Industries booked a 9.3% increase in net profit to $223.8 million for 4Q ended Dec compared to the previous year.

This increase came on the back of a 5.6% rise in revenue to $2.97 billion in the quarter.

For the full year in 2013, Sembcorp booked a net profit of $820.4 million, up 9% from the previous year.

Full-year revenue rose 6% to $10.8 billion.

Sembcorp's utilities and marine business led the growth. Utilities accounted for 51% of net profit while the marine business accounting for 39%.

Sembcorp has proposed a final dividend of 17 cents per share, comprising an ordinary dividend of 15 cents and a bonus dividend of 2 cents.

Its marine business has a net order book of $12.3 billion with completions and deliveries stretching into 2019.

Estimated to cost about $250 million, the facility will be equipped with two boilers with a combined capacity of 140 tonnes of steam per hour, and is expected to supply up to a third of Sembcorp customers’ steam needs once it is completed in early 2016.

The facility will also utilise about 1,000 tonnes of industrial and commercial waste collected by the group’s solid waste management operations as fuel per day, and reduce the group’s disposal costs for waste collected.

Sembcorp Industries said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp (China) Holding Co, the company has signed a joint venture agreement to build, own and operate an industrial wastewater treatment plant in the Jingmen Chemical Industrial Park (JCIP).

Sembcorp will own a 95% stake in the joint venture, while Jingmen Xinyuan Investment Company, wholly owned by the Duodao District Government of Jingmen city and a business arm of the JCIP Administration Committee, will hold the remaining 5%.

At a total investment of RMB98.7 million ($20.5 million), the facility will have an initial capacity of 10,000 cubic metres per day with capabilities to treat multiple streams of industrial wastewater. Expected to be completed in the first half of 2016, the facility will provide industrial wastewater treatment services to companies in the JCIP under a 30-year exclusive concession agreement.

The total project investment of RMB98.7 million will be funded through a mix of equity and borrowings. Sembcorp’s 95% share of the equity investment amounts to $7.8 million, which will be financed by internal funds.

The 27.6-square kilometre JCIP houses a six million tonnes per annum oil refinery owned by SINOPEC Jingmen, as well as downstream petrochemical, coal-to-chemicals and fine chemicals companies.

With this expansion to Hubei province, Sembcorp’s utilities business now extends across 11 provincial regions in China.

The transaction is not expected to have a material impact on the earnings per share and net asset value per share of Sembcorp Industries for the current financial year

我也察觉到不对路，所以4.33杀进，在4.43赶快逃脱走人。现在跌到4.28，便宜了0.05,正在考虑要不要开始累积同时又对SIA Eng现在的价位4.13也心动。。。。。左右为难啊
