Orchard library caters to more mature readers
MY VIEW differs from that of Ms Grace Tan ("No books for kids at new library"; yesterday).
library@orchard is in a commercial and shopping area, and caters to the needs of more mature readers.
While families may enjoy a day out in Orchard Road, library visiting could be more conducive in neighbourhood libraries or the main library in Victoria Street, which are mostly bigger than library@orchard and have children's book sections.
Moreover, as library@orchard is situated in a shopping area, there is the possibility that parents would leave their kids in a library with a children's section while they run their errands or shop. These children would tend to get restless after a while and may not observe the rule about keeping quiet.
