E3 2004: Legend of Zelda Reborn
Nintendo maniacs, the wait is over. Link has grown up and he's back to kick some ass.
May 11, 2004 - It's been four long years since Nintendo unveiled its Space World 2000 demo of Legend of Zelda. The realistic take on the action-adventure franchise, which showcased a brief fight sequence between an older, meaner Link and a downright evil looking Gannondorf, was shelved less than a year after its unveiling so that Nintendo could instead pursue the cel-shaded Wind Waker style. But Nintendo fans never forgot about that brief trailer that showed so much promise.
The footage showcased a detailed adult Link as he rode his horse across an expansive Hyrule, did battle with a number of different enemy types including a Moblin, Bokoblins and multiple Lizalfos. In one stunning scene, the sun set as dark riders advanced over the horizon. In another, Link battled against a gigantic fire boss. He also explored the forest, seemed to solve puzzles in a dungeon and more. The visuals, featuring what is hands-down the best Link model ever designed and a host of impressive technical feats such as advanced lighting and shadow effects, crisp textures, and impressive draw distance, to name a few, made Nintendo fans' eyes roll in their heads.
After the display ended and the crowd settled, Nintendo designer and director Shigeru Miyamoto took the stage with Master Sword and shield in hand and addressed lucky attendees. "I am not Link, but I do know him!" he joked. "Even after 18 years the Legend of Zelda never stops changing and this game is no different. We are now taking you to a world where Link has grown up -- a world where he will act different and look different. In order to grow, Link must not stand still and neither will I. Thank you and goodbye." With a few more sword swings, Miyamoto stepped off the stage.
The game, simply titled Legend of Zelda (and not Wind Waker 2), is set for release on GameCube sometime next year.
IGNcube will have footage and screens of the game available for download very soon. Because we love you.

Game Boy: E3 2004: SEGA Announces DS 06:36PM
May 11, 2004 -Sega也順道公佈了她們在任天堂上的新手提機-NDS的游戲陣容:
May 11, 2004 - SEGA today announced its initial titles in development for the Nintendo DS. Along with the titles the company simultaneously announced for the Sony PSP, SEGA's obviously intending to be in from the start on the new generation of portable gaming systems.
First up is Sonic DS (working title), which as you would guess is a new Sonic experience designed specifically for Nintendo's dual-screened system.
SEGA also confirmed development of a title codenamed "roject Rub" -- no snickering, please -- which will use an innovative "rubbing" form of game play, presumably using the DS's touch-screen capability. Seriously, no snickering!
Yuji Naka, SEGA's executive managing director and general manager of Development Head Office comments, "I am very happy to announce titles for the 'Nintendo DS (temporary name)' handheld game console, which will play a major role in the future game industry. DS has various innovative features like Dual Screens, Touch Screen and Microphone. Its great variety of input mechanisms has allowed us to create new forms of gaming that could not be experienced with previous games for the home market. For our first titles - Sonic DS (temporary title) and Project Rub (temporary title) -- we have placed an emphasis on controls using a Touch Screen, which will allow us to achieved the concept of "rubbing," a unique and fun gameplay mechanic made possible by the DS. We will investigate a wide-range of gaming elements unique to DS, so look forward to future SEGA titles."
We'll get you more news about SEGA's DS titles as soon as it comes in. Keep an eye out for it.

PSP: E3 2004: SEGA Announces PSP Titles06:16 PM
May 11, 2004 -Sega終於公佈了她們在sce上的手提機-PSP的游戲陣容:
Puyo Pop Fever - The wily (and wildly popular) puzzle game will represent on the PSP.
Project S - A mysterious, as-yet-untitled PSP project that SEGA is keeping under wraps for now. However, when thinking of big SEGA properties that begin with the letter "S," well, one or two (or, one) things come to mind. We're just guessing.
Yuji Naka, SEGA's executive managing director and general manager of Development Head Office comments, "I am excited to announce SEGA's initial software plans for the new PSP platform which offers truly high performance and efficient graphics display and incredible sound quality. Given its technical strengths, SEGA regards PSP as a handheld video game system with great potential. We are presently developing Puyo Pop Fever and Project S (temporary title), and we will propose a new style of gaming and entertainment that maximizes the features unique to PSP, such as network communication battle via wireless LAN and the 'face-to-face' system that utilizes the 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD. Please look forward to future SEGA's titles."

E3 2004: Pikmin 2 Release Date
pikmin2美版看來也確定了真正的官方日期。我看還是等美版算了...
May 11, 2004 - The game, which formerly set for an August release was given a much firmer August 30 debut day.
Nintendo Press Conference: E3 2004
Online for glorious download, direct-feed. Zelda. Metroid. Miyamoto in costume as Link.
May 11, 2004 - The IGN team literally just stepped back into our E3 2004 war room and we're buzzing with excitement. Nintendo's E3 2004 presentation was the company's absolute best in years. Content is king and the lineup is one of the best in years: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Legend of Zelda (in all its mature style), Viewtiful Joe 2, Advance Wars, and so much more.
As you must know by now, the DS was also unveiled. We have all that right here. The new "mature Zelda" that we've asked for, now for years, was also unveiled. Then there is Miyamoto, who came out after the Zelda trailer to say that he was proud to do something new with Zelda and bring an adult Link to gamers. He was also holding a Hyrulian shield and the Master Sword.
在這裡謝謝Tidus的轉載視訊阿!!!因我正煩惱著該不該還另外分享出來..現在看來還是轉載他們的來得方便﹐快速些了﹐沒辦法。

Sony Press Conference: E3 2004
The entire conference for your viewing pleasure.
May 11, 2004 - Sony held its E3 2004 press conference today, and we're proud to present the conference in its full, uncut and uncensored form. That what the ladies like, so we hear.
But then there was the PSP. Full, updated specs were given and video was shown of quite a few games in action. EA had its own trailer to show with PSP content, featuring NFL Street, Tiger Woods, Need for Speed Underground and more. You won't want to miss all those.
To close things up, talk of the Cell processor was made. You'll just have to watch that part for yourself to figure out what exactly is in store for gamers.

PS2:E3 2004: Silent Hill 4 :The Room - Hands-On
May 11, 2004 - At this point, fans of the Silent Hill series can separate themselves from the rest of the crowd for one main reason -- they like to get scared out of their wits. We're talking H.P. Lovecraft scared, not Stephen King scared. Scared in the way that doesn't make human sense -- the kind of eerie, unexplainable scared that happens when there is no explainable reason, no humanly logical why that thing -- ghost, monster, what have you -- is so evil and has decided to slaughter you limb from limb. Silent Hill 4 The Room is Konami's videogame assault on your nerves and senses, and yes, though it is the fourth in the series, the development team, led by Producer and Sound Director Akira Yamaoka, has new tricks up its sleeve.
Like the previous three games in the series, Silent Hill 4 The Room offers gamers an entirely new cast of characters, a new setting, and an entirely original story. You take on the role of Henry Townsend, a man in his 20s who lives in a town just outside of Silent Hill called Ashfield. One fine morning, he wakes up and notices a throng of heavy chains bolting him inside his room. Realizing he's trapped, Henry, who -- when he is in his room is shown from the first-person perspective -- tries in vain to free himself. There is a peep hole, strangely, that enables him to look into the room of his neighbor, Eileen Galvin. He's not a pervert, but it becomes increasingly valuable to look in there to give him a sense of, well, reality. Days go by, and Henry remains trapped. Then finally, on the fifth day, Henry walks into his bathroom where a giant hole appears. What else can he really do but enter it? By doing so, he enters the alternate reality of Silent Hill, and the game proper.
The menu is all new. Players can switch weapons, reload their guns, and mix items on screen in realtime. No more stopping, switching to the menu system, and slowly fiddling around with items. The new menu system appears as a horizontal list of icons at the bottom of the screen. Press a button and it comes up, scroll through using the Dpad, and then press the same button to select an item. Another interesting new change is the way you see health. You have a health meter, indicating how much health you have remaining, rather than the more intuitive, less revealing method from previous games. You can hit Triangle (on PS2) or Y (Xbox) to instantly see the game map.
Konami has modified the weapon system so you'll be unable to carry as many weapons. Henry will return to his room via seemingly randomly placed holes that enable him to travel back and forth between his aprtment and this other "place." When he's in the Silent Hill world, the camera system sees Henry from a flexible third-person camera that integrates cinematic camera placement. When he's in his room, the camera switches to a first-person perspective. New camera angles give Silent Hill 4 a slightly different feel. There are top-down-isometric angles in narrow corridors and alleyways giving the game a feeling of separation. Strange things happen in Henry's room, too. Each time he returns, it decays just a little more. Metal slowly starts resting.
The combat is similar enough. Players use the right shoulder button (or right trigger on Xbox) and a face button to attack enemies. There are several kinds of weapons, including pick axes, and special swords that can only be used to repel and slow down ghosts, which cannot be killed. If you've ever played Silent Hill before, you'll know that avoiding enemies is often smarter and more resourceful than attacking them, which ends up usually wasting bullets and health. That's where the ghosts come in. They attack using ghostly essence, so even if you get close to them, the do some minor bit of damage. To counter them, Konami's new swords, The Sword of Obedience and The Sword of Despair, enable players to knock them down, and then pin them to the ground. They'll eventually get up, but long after you've left.
Another interesting addition to the game reminds this reporter of Silent Hill 2. Eileen, like Maria before her, is your companion, so she follows you around in various segments through the game. Chang wouldn't reveal exactly why, but she starts off looking slightly beat up. She wears a red short skirt, and appears with small scratches and cuts on her arms and back. As you progress, you'll notice the disturbing growth of her wounds. It looks like she's actually getting a case of Chicken Pox that never stops growing. She soon starts limping, and her injury leads to something, perhaps her transformation into a hellish creature. We don't know for sure, but ****, she starts looking very nasty indeed. Like a battered victim. It's fiendishly creepy.
The other cool thing about Eileen is that she can fight. In the Forest level, you hand her a chain, and she can attack any enemy. It's quite cool to see her slaying enemies with a whip-like chain. She follows you around relatively closely, but she is easy to lose, and that may result in even more injuries.
The puzzles in the Silent Hill series are always top notch. Following tradition, you can adjust the difficult level of the game separately than the difficulty level of the puzzles. In the demos we played, the usually killer logic puzzles weren't available. The ones we solved were relatively simple fetch quests. So, all I can say is expect to see the same level of great puzzles from previous games. Also traditional in the series is the ability to play many different endings. This one will have even more than Silent Hill 3, but not as many as Silent Hill 2.
PS2,Xbox,PC版應都是同在這個9月發佈!!!!!!!

May 12, 2004 - The horror is returning to Xbox. Though it didn't get much fanfare, Fatal Frame was one hell of a scary experience with a dark atmosphere and some fantastic sound. The sequel, which has already been released on PS2, focuses on twin sisters Mio and Mayu and their strange fate. Taking place in a lost village worthy of the Village of the ****ed, Fatal Frame 2 should bring some true survival horror to Xbox.
This isn't a just a straight port, however, as there are numerous upgrades and bonuses added for Xbox owners hungry for some Frame. Though the original game was in third-person, Fatal Frame 2 offers a FPS Mode that lets you play the entire game from a first-person view. There's also a brand new Survival Mode, that puts you in an arena where ghosts attack non-stop.
Explore "All God's Village" with your two new main characters, Mio and Mayu and live the fear, using your camera to fight off the spirits of the dead. The Xbox version will support
5.1 Surround Sound to help fully realize the terror.
We'll have more on Fatal Frame 2 soon.

Two big Capcom titles make it to the portable PlayStation.
May 12, 2004 - Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has spilled the beans on two bigs Capcom property that somehow didn't make it into the company's pre-E3 press briefing from earlier today. In addition to a Vampire Chronicles game (shown in the video montage of PSP games at the presentation), Capcom is also working on Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe for the PlayStation portable.
If you're looking for details on either game, you'll have to wait, as we only have confirmation at this point. New titles? Remakes? We expect some form of comment from Capcom over the next few days, so stay tuned.

PSP: E3 2004: FFVII AC on PSP02:42 AM
May 12, 2004 - At this morning's Sony Computer Entertainment conference (which would actually be yesterday's SCE conference for those counting -- not that we were not duly impressed by the video demonstration, but it was the games that caught our eye and left us here working until 2:40 A.M.), Square Enix announced that its upcoming CGI story-sequel to Final Fantasy VII (not a game, but actually a video continuation of the saga) would also be one of the first videos to be release in the UMD Video format.
A brand new trailer was displayed of the movie at the show, highlighting the ghetto urban landscapes where the story takes place. Video was shown running in realtime on a PSP screen.
We'll have more on FFVI: Advent Children in the near future. |

May 12, 2004 - Ninety-nine game companies are working on games for the PSP, according to a press release distributed today by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. This number breaks down to thirty-four in Japan, twenty-four in North America, thirty-one in Europe and ten in Korea. Included in the list are the likes of Square Enix, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Sega and -- well, everyone.
The PSP is also apparently perking the interest of non-game entertainment companies. Echoing statements made at the PlayStation pre-E3 press briefing earlier today, the SCEJ press release mentions that the company has received inquiries from movie and music companies into the use of UMD format as a means of delivering content.
While the list of entertainment companies interested in the PSP has not been revealed, here's the list of game companies working with the system. The list is split by region.

The list clocks in at 43 titles, even without mention of titles from many of the official developers for the system, including Atlus, SNK Playmore and Idea Factory. Add in support from the American side and the typically portable-heavy Europen side, and the PSP could end up with almost too much software!

E3 2004: Devil May Cry 3 - Hands-On
dmc3最新玩後感!!!!!!
May 12, 2004 - Despite the fact that PSM officially unveiled Devil May Cry 3 to the world last week with its E3 issue, Capcom had not yet officially announced the brand new title until today. The moment the clock struck 10am, however, press releases went out across the wire and just like that, the third installment of Capcom's half-demon chronicle could finally be talked about. Veiled in a shroud of secrecy up to that point, the game was a taboo subject for the gaming press who had already seen it but was barred from speaking about it until the proclamation was made.
"Devil May Cry 3 packs non-stop thrills and a captivating story line into one technologically advanced package," said Todd Thorson, director of marketing, Capcom USA. "Action game fans are in for one hell of an experience."
That statement isn't just PR hyperbole either, as we had the opportunity to play Devil May Cry 3 for ourselves just a few days ago at Capcom's Pre-E3 Producer's Day event here in Los Angeles. Shown first in the form of a kick-ass trailer during a formal presentation and later unveiled on a single PS2 unit for everyone to experience, the brand new game elicited incredibly long lines -- with waits that took as long as an hour before journalists had their opportunity to play. To say that DMC3 was creating some immense buzz would be an exercise in stating the obvious.
To set up our awaited hands-on time with the game, Capcom revealed a smidgeon of the back story to better flesh out how this new game ties into the Devil May Cry Mythos. Surprisingly, DMC3 is actually a prequel to the original title and is essentially the story of two brothers. As it turns out, Dante wasn't the only son of the legendary demon warrior Sparda and he shares his destiny with another powerful enigma -- his twin brother, Virgil. Unfortunately, Virgil has been consumed by his power as a half demon badass, and materializes one evening in front of Dante's detective agency to confront his better sibling. Eventually the two collide in battle, and events unfold from there.
Because Devil May Cry 3 takes place in a time period that sees Dante unaware of what he truly is, the gameplay actually reflects his unshaped warrior self. Using a system known as "My Dante", the game will allow players to customize their character in any manner of ways by upgrading their abilities in different disciplines. The first and most recognizable discipline is likely the Gunslinger, which is a helpful long-range class that allows Dante to master a variety of different techniques from far away. The sword master class, however, is all about close-range destruction and places a greater emphasis on strength and brutal near-sighted fighting. Trickster, is the most spectacular of the bunch and empowers Dante with the ability to do wall jumps, complicated surface runs, and all manner of wild speed-based attacks. While the final class, the Royal Guard, is all about defense and counter attacks.
Another new addition to the series is the all-new visual look. Though it does share several stylistic similarities to the previous two titles in many ways (i.e., and amalgamation of goth and metal), the graphics engine is a completely fresh one; with absolutely every aspect of the game rebuilt from the ground up. The results of this upgrade can be seen immediately too; with a larger number of enemies, more detailed character models, and plenty of lighting effects joining together to form one beautiful looking game. Amazingly, the soundtrack is just as powerful, and based on the three different songs we've heard so far, has already made its bid as one of the best examples of PlayStation 2 audio this year.
