I'm male,22 tis year looking for partners to go Mount Kinabalu (via Ferrata) on 8-9/5/2010.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Meet at hotel in Kota Kinabalu and transfer to Kinabalu Park Headquarters, the journey will take approximately 2 hours, en-route passing by villages and a panoramic vista of the valleys of the Crocker Range.  On arrival, register at the Kinabalu Park HQ and proceed to the Timpohon Gate and it's from here the ascent to Laban Rata rest house begins.  The trek will pass by different vegetation zones from Oak and Chestnut to mossy and eventually to alpine type of vegetations. Meet your torq trainer and familiarization.  Overnight at Pendant Hut.

[Buffet Dinner Inclusive]

Day 2

Ascent to the summit of Mount Kinabalu (4092.5m) above sea level at 03:00 early morning.  Upon reaching the summit (Known as Low's Peak), take the opportunities to take as much photographs on the highest point in South East Asia.  In a clear weather, a spectacular sunrise awaits weary climbers.  Via Ferrata – Walk the torq and retrace back to Pendant Hut for breakfast and onward descent to Timpohon gate where transport will take you to the Kinabalu Park HQ to collect your achievement certificate.  Transfer to Kota Kinabalu City.

Day        Itinerary
Day 1
08.05.10




        Airport – Kinabalu Park

Meet and greet at the airport/hotel and proceed to 2 hours journey across the mountainous Crocker Range with amazing views of rolling hills and lush green countryside.

Upon reaching the famed Kinabalu Park, be impressed by the majestic Mount Kinabalu, the forth tallest mountain in South East Asia. Kinabalu Park is a World Heritage Site and a sanctuary to thousands species of flora and fauna, haven for researchers and enthusiasts. Arrive at the resort for briefing and check in. Free at own leisure.

Day 2

        Kinabalu Park – Pendant Hut

After breakfast, transfers to Kinabalu Park headquarter to register yourself with the park authorities and collect your packed lunch which you can enjoy on the way up to the mountain. Then off to Timpohon Gate where climbers will start the adventurous leg up to Laban Rata with an experienced mountain guide. Laban Rata will be the check-in point for Day 1 of the climb.

At 3.30pm, there will be a safety briefing by Mountain Torq instructor. Then proceed for dinner at a restaurant in Laban Rata. Overnight at Pendant Hut dormitory (non-heated).

Day 3

        Pendant Hut – Summit – Walk The Torq - Laban Rata – Timpohon Gate – Kinabalu Headquarter – Lodge

0200hrs – an early rise as one would need to reach submit for sunrise. Upon reaching Low’s Peak – the highest point of Mount Kinabalu, be awed by the view of the first burst of sunrise in the distance, a view that many have stated as indescribable.

Descend to Sayat-Sayat Slab to meet Mountain Torq guides for a detour on the Low's peak circuit Via Ferrata to see stunning views and hidden corners of the mountain plateau. Then begin to descend to Laban Rata for breakfast and head back to Timpohon Gate. A transfer will take you to the headquarters to collect your certificate for completion of the climb. Lunch on own expense at Balsam Cafe. Proceed back to Kota Kinabalu lodge. Free at own leisure.

Day 4

        Lodge – Padas White Water Rafting - Lodge

After breakfast, meet at hotel lobby and transfer by coach to Tenom, a small town located in the interior division of Sabah. This town was formerly known as Fort Birch during the colonial period. Arrive Tenom and proceed to Pangie by “trolley” (a square shape plank with bearings). This thrilling and scenic ride will take 45 minutes by ‘push-trolley ride’. Upon reaching the starting point, light refreshments will be served. Then equipment will be provided and guest gear up for a safety briefing by professional river guide and rafting commences.

The 30KM white water rafting is the longest in Borneo! The first 9KM of rafting covers 7 classes of III-IV rapids. Have a quick stop for a sumptuous lunch at Rayoh Station before continue rafting down along side the majestic rainforest of Borneo. Ending point will be at Halogilat where guest will be transferred by village boat or train ride (depending on availability) to Beaufort Town. Here you may freshen up, get changed and board coach back to your respective hotel. Estimated time of arrival in Kota Kinabaly city is at 8.30pm.
