Double edged knives are used mostly for thrusting. Because their tipsare relatively weak they are prone to breaking. In addition, the secondedge is an unneeded edge that can lead to injury. Cheap survival knives are often made so that the metalblade is separate from the handle. The weak point on these badly madeknives is where the blade and handle are bolted and glued together. Youwould do well to avoid such a cheap knife in favor of the superior fulltang or narrow tang models.

Types of Knife Blades

There are two main types of knife blades that thesurvivor need concern himself with, namely smooth and serrated.Serrated survival knife blades do well at cutting synthetic materials,clothing, and flesh. For self defense and paramedics, etc, serratededges are a good choice.

A drawback to serrated cutting edges is that they aredifficult to sharpen properly in the field. This is certainly a majordrawback in a survival situation where maintaining a keen edge duringhard use is vitally important. In addition, serrated knives do not havean efficient blade for carving and chopping. A plain smooth edged bladeis the blade of choice for most survival situations. Such a blade isuseful for carving, chopping, and cutting. Though it may not slicethrough nylon webbing, clothing, or flesh as efficiently as a serratedblade, the straight bladed knives will still make short work of thesematerials.

Knife Blade Materials

小刀的最大作用是在制作工具.像RAMBO那种不大不小的刀其实并没有很大的作用.


这是配合斧头和小刀的作品.也只有三寸左右的小刀能够做到比较细的东西,包括陷阱制作.所以,老外所谓的'BUSH KNIEF'都是三,四寸的小刀.大家可以在YOUTUBE上寻找这方面的资料和使用方法.

一些軍用店或魚具店就有得買了!但一般我都會上网買,因為价錢較便宜,而且可以買到較好的品牌的刀!
