0106 GMT [Dow Jones] Ranhill Utilities (5050.KU) +7.7% at MYR3.36 and may extend gains to test MYR3.50/share takeover offer price vs Friday's close at MYR3.12 (flat) following announcement company to be taken private by major shareholder Hamdan Mohamad under a MYR305.11 million takeover offer. Hamdan and partner Ahmad Zahdi Jamil are offering MYR3.50/share for the remaining 87.17 million shares, or 29.60% stake, in RUB, according to filings with exchange. The offerors do not plan to retain RUB's listing status. Dealers say minority shareholders likely to accept offer price as stock is illiquid and may be difficult to dispose of in the open market at substantially higher prices than the offer price. (VGB)
