又长又复杂的Email可以突显英文很好？这个想法非常错误！

写给老板的 Email 经常用了很多不必要的赘词，来表现出自己很专业，英文很好？如果你经常这么做，就错了咯！


写得又长又复杂不代表英文更好。很多老板都会觉得这样的沟通“long-winded ”、“old-fashioned”。意思是太啰唆，没完没了，而且老派。

英语国家70年代开始提倡简单英语（plain English），大刀阔斧删掉文诌诌的、打官腔的字眼。至于哪些表达会让人觉得啰唆又老派，来看一个例子：

As per our previous conversation, I am writing to follow up on our earlier decision on the marketing campaign in Q2. Attached herewith please find the revised proposal for your perusal.  



（就先前我们谈过的，我写信来是要追踪我们先前对于第二季行销活动的决定。附件是修正后的计划书，请提供您宝贵意见。）
让我们一句一句分解这段email，看看问题在哪里：



1. As per our previous conversation（就先前我们的谈话）
这个用法二十几年很流行，很多每封 Email 的开头都是 “as per”，但时下商业沟通讲求精简，这样说显得老套，而且 previous 很多余，直接用 As we discussed / As discussed 就好。
As per your request ...  → As you requested
As per our agreement ... →  As we agreed
As per your instructions ... →  As you instructed

2. Attached please find…（附件是…）
以前人们依赖纸本信件沟通，“Enclosed please find….” 也曾经风行一时。但年轻一辈发现，根本没有任何东西要 “find”，这么写看起来像律师函，没道理。
还有人会用 please see attached，这也不自然。现在大家更爱用 I'm attaching/ I've attached，或直接用 Attached is …。
Attached please find the following receipt. → Attached is the receipt.（附上收据）

3. Herewith（随函）
Herewith、hereby、herein 这些都很拗口，虽然有些文化悠久的商号还改不了口，但直接用 here 更简要。
attached herewith → attached is, here is

4. Perusal（仔细研究）
这个字少见、少用，但还真有一位在外商银行工作的学生写信就用了这个字，他说在网路学到就用了，这个字改成 review 更自然。

以精简原则修改，以上那长长一串的 email 只要一句话就能概述：
As discussed, here is the revised marketing campaign for Q2 for your review.

还有以下这些 email 用语，也已经过时，请更精简地表达取代它们吧！

5. “Please be advised ...”（我（们）要通知你...）
听起来太像官样，像银行寄信告诉你，贷款到期的那种信。直接去掉即可。
“Please be advised that the check is overdue.” →  “The check is overdue.”

6. “Please do not hesitate to contact me.”（请随时联络我）
这句话已经用了半世纪之后，已经成了没有意义的陈腔滥调，说了等于没说。改成"please call me." 这类更直接有力的诉求。

7. “at your earliest convenience”（最近方便的时间）
太客气会给人虚伪感，既然要 earliest，就建议一个时间，例如 “by next week”。
