IGN Xbox360\ PS3 Mass Effect 2 DLC: Arrival Review
IGN Score: 7/10
Purchasing Arrival means there’s more to do in Mass Effect 2, and that’s always a good thing.
It sets up the tone of urgency that’s prevalent in the Mass Effect 3 trailer, but don’t expect it to explain a lot.
If you don’t mind combat-focused, linear missions, it’s worth the $7 or 560 Microsoft points.

============================================= Mass Effect系列小说之四:Deception
NEW YORK, NY – April 5, 2011 – Continuing the all-new, completely original story begun in the first three Mass Effect™ novels, Revelation, Ascension, and Retribution, Del Rey, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, announced today a fourth novel based on the Mass Effect science-fiction action role-playing game series from BioWare™, one of the premier developers of games in the world. MASS EFFECT: DECEPTION will be written by author William C. Dietz and will release in Fall 2011.
A big portion of the Mass Effect series’ phenomenal success is due to its extraordinary and cinematic approach to storytelling and the game’s deep and rich worlds. In MASS EFFECT: DECEPTION, Gillian was once the subject of horrifying scientific experiments, but now, after her rescue, she is beginning to master her amazing powers. When she falls under the sway of a radical group who believe their powers make them superior to ordinary humans, she finds herself faced with a choice between her destiny…and her humanity.

- The game starts out with Shepard on trial on earth following the events of Mass Effect 2′s final DLC pack, Arrival. During the hearing, though, the Reapers start their invasion of the planet.
- As well as that, Cerberus, the mysterious organisation that played a major part in Mass Effect 2, is out to kill Shepard. The Illusive Man is said to play an crucial role in ME3.
- Squadmates confirmed for the game include Garrus, Liara and, depending on a choice made in Mass Effect 1, Kaiden or Ashley, with Wrex, Mordin, Legion and Anderson to also appear as non-party members – that’s assuming everyone’s still alive after your adventures in ME1 and ME2.
- The weapons in the game will be based on ME2, but will include mods, which will enable you to swap out gun parts, such as barrels, and scopes.
- Despite previous speculation saying, there’s no multiplayer.
It’s been confirmed that humans won’t be the only species which can be husk-ifed in ME3. As previously reported, the game starts off with the Reapers assaulting earth, but the invading force can be defeated.
Key plot elements will reveal why the Reapers can be beaten, but developers don’t want to talk about that until the game is out.
They also don’t want the Reapers’ Achilles heel to be obvious from the start. Apparently there are going to be a bunch of red herrings, and the game will start with you facing an apparently hopeless situation before slowly working out what needs to be done.
It’s also been revealed that TIM has sent some of his top agents to kill Shepard. You can expect the combat to be much harder, with melee attacks having more focus. Shooting specific armor parts will produce different results in the game.
You’ll be able to pick up enemy weapons in ME3. The battlefields are also going to be much larger, with more varied combat than in previous games.
There’s a larger skill-tree on offer, and you can expect the RPG elements to be more integrated. There will be multiple ways to obtain species’ loyalty, and you won’t only be restricted to obtaining them via quests.
Some of the decisions you took in ME 1 will have a grave effect in Mass Effect 3. For example, if you had spared the Rachni, you’re going to know about it. There are no railroads to the end of the game: you will be offered multiple options to take back earth.
