是MENA FUND 的基金经理解释为何MENA这个月跌那么多

Below is the explanation of why the fund price of CIMB MENA Fund is declining these two weeks:

MENA Equity Fund has a low correlation to the world markets & NOT negative correlation. Thus when the world markets came down recently due to a spat of bad news, the MENA regions will somehow be affected too.

For the month of June, the world was affected badly due to high inflationary figures and high oil prices but the MENA region performed better. However in July, the region is slightly worse off. Among the negative news coming out or affecting the region are:

*       Iran testing their missiles increasing speculations of a nuclear-weapon programme. Then again, there's rumour to say that they fake those missiles fired. ( http://www.arabianbusiness.com/524465-iranians-acused-of-photoshopping-misile-test?ln=en )

*       Unrest in Nigeria

*       High inflation figures coming out from Egypt @ 20.2%

*       Oil price ease by about $10, but had since recovered half of it

In general, the region's growth (infrastructure, etc) is still very much intact. Recent slide was more due to the sentiments in the markets due to concerns above. The fund manager remains fully invested.

Remember, short term volatility will always be present.
