Liverpool boss reiterates need for more players
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reiterated that he needs to strengthen his squad. Although having signed Daniel Sturridge, the Reds have seen Nuri Sahin and Joe Cole both leave the club over the last couple of weeks. While it made sense to move them on, it has left the squad even weaker than it was going into the current campaign. Following a bit of activity in the summer, the boss stated back then that he needed to add more players to the squad before that window slammed shut. Unfortunately nobody else arrived. Craig Bellamy, Dirk Kuyt and Maxi were moved out and not replaced and with Andy Carroll leaving on loan, that left his options in attack embarrassingly thin. Supporters are hoping that there won't be a repeat of the summer window this time around and it goes without saying that the manager wants as many options as possible available to him. Rodgers said: "We'll see what happens over the course of the next few weeks. "Daniel [Sturridge] was our main priority and we'll have to see what else is available. "There's no doubt we need to support the group. We had 20 players training this morning, of which some of those are our younger players, so we know we need to reinforce and top up the group. That's something we'll look to do.
If we can do it then great and if not, then we'll wait until the summer." Earlier this week Rodgers make a case for signing some experienced players when he said: "We need a few more players who are experienced."
