By Rdyberg Equation : 1/A = Rh (1/n^2 - 1/m^2) where A=wave length,n=2,m=4
==>1/A = (1.097x10^7)(1/4-1/16) ==> A =486.2 nm
from v = f A (v=speed of light,f=frequency)
==> f = v/A = (3.00x10^8)(486.2x10^(-9)) = 6.17 x 10^14Hz
is it correct?

Why Be(OH)2 and BeO salts cannot be hydrolysed while the salts like BeNO3 can be hydrolysed? |

second line involves the transition of n=4 to n=2

Across the 3rd period of the periodic table,the shielding effect of the inner shells remains constant as the electrons are added to the outermost quatum shell. Moreover, the proton numberincreases as the protons are added into the nuclues causing theeffective nuclear charge increase. Therefore its attraction for the outermost electrons increases. Thus, the outermost electrons are pulled in closer to the nucleus. Hence the atomic radius decreases across a period. |

octahedral就是上面一个金字塔形,下面一个金字塔形(2个金字塔的base连在一起)
所以也可以说是square bipyramidal,不是吗?
6个bonding pairs,没有lone pair就是octahedral
如果octahedral不是square bipyramidal,那么后者有几个bonding pairs几个lone pairs呢?
