Samson encouraged by well results
Flow back results from the Rodney -1-14 well have been labelled “very encouraging” by Australia-listed Samson Oil & Gas, which announced it had completed the final stage of the well today.

Restricted flow back results from the well reached a maximum of 1320 barrels per day, while the water rate was reduced from an initial rate of 2800 barrels per day to 470 barrels per day.
This decreased water rate is commensurate with an initial water cut of 86% reducing to a water cut of 48%, and is expected to continue to reduce to around 25%. Gas rates have varied between 1.38 million cubic feet per day and 900,000 cubic feet per day.
Samson, which holds a 26.3% working interest in the well, completed the final stage of fracture stimulation on the well and started flow back operations last week with 15 individual frac plugs in place.
With the flow back being controlled by design to ensure the proppant remains in place, an initial production rate cannot be determined until after the frac plugs have been drilled out, the company said in an announcement.
This operation (planned as part of the completion) will be undertaken by the work over rig that is presently scheduled to be on site next week.
Oil sales commenced immediately and the gas sales line was connected after 4 days of flaring, so both products are already being marketed and generating cash flow.
