MD: No plan to sell Hartalega

HARTALEGA Holdings Bhd, the largest nitrile gloves producer, has no plan to invite external investors to take a major stake in the company.

There is no plan to sell the company and the existing management aims to groom the business, managing director Kuan Kam Hon told a press conference after the listing of the company today.

A rumour that Hartalega is an acquisition target emerged recently after the world’s largest rubber glove manufacturer, Top Glove Bhd, said it does not rule out acquiring Hartalega if an opportunity arises and the timing is right.

A few years ago, Top Glove chairman Tan Sri Lim Wee-Chai made a bid for Hartalega but no deal materialised.

Meanwhile, Kuan said the listing of Hartalega is part of a long term plan by the group to enable it to raise funds for its large-scale expansion in the future.

The present shareholders do not have deep pockets to come up with the funds required for the expansion, he said, adding that the expansion so far has been mostly with internal funding.

Hartalega, considered as one of the most efficient glove manufacturers with technology that includes a robotic glove stripping system capable of stripping 30,000 pieces of rubber gloves an hour, now produces 3.1 billion gloves annually.

The figure is expected to increase as its fourth plant, with a capacity of 2.9 billion pieces annually, is completed by September as scheduled.

The fifth plant, whose construction is to begin in July, will be ready in the financial year ending March 31, 2010.

Kuan said RM230 million is being invested in the fourth and fifth plants located with its existing facilities at Batang Berjuntai in Selangor.

The expansion is to meet the current demand for the gloves, he added.

He said at the moment, 75 per cent of the gloves produced by Hartalega are nitrile gloves while the rest are rubber gloves, and the ratio for nitrile gloves will increase to 80 per cent with the new facilities.

However, in the long term, the group aims to maintain a ratio of 70 per cent nitrile gloves and 30 per cent rubber gloves, he added.

On the debut of Hartalega today on the Main Board, Kuan said he was happy with the opening performance which saw it priced at RM1.95, 15 sen higher than the initial public offering.

After just five minutes of trading, it hit a high of RM2.02 before retreating to as low as RM1.88, which was first recorded at 9.44am.

At 12.09pm, it was traded at RM1.94 with a total of 18.62 million shares already changing hands in the morning session. — Bernama

（吉隆坡）手套公司賀特佳（HARTA，5168；主板工業產品組）今日（週四，17日）主板首目登場表現亮眼，首開取得溢價15仙或8.3%，報1令吉95仙；一度揚升至2令吉2仙，溢價22仙或12.2%；收市掛1令吉91仙，溢價11仙或6.6%，全日成交量達2281萬股，為全場交投最熱門股項。

該公司董事經理關錦安對股票溢價開市感到高興，並表示公司將力爭上游，讓業務更上一層樓。

該公司是大馬最大丁晴手套（人造膠）生產者，該公司將斥資2億3000萬令吉興建第4與第5工廠，預料2010年全面建竣後，產量由目前的33億個增至99億個，同時增加其盈利表現。

該公司2008年3月截止財年一如預期獲3900多萬令吉淨利，2009年向9600萬營業額與5500萬淨利的目標邁進。

關錦安說，新廠花費多由內部融資，只借貸1500萬至1800萬美元（約4800萬令吉至5600萬令吉之間）。

69%丁晴手套銷往美國

他指出，上市籌措資金多作為營運資本與未來更大用途。

他說，69%丁晴手套銷往美國市場，但美國經濟放緩後並不會對公司業績構成衝擊，因為丁晴手套多用於保健與手術室，不景氣並不會影響手套需求。

賀特佳專注於丁晴手套的生產，目前佔生產的75%，而膠手套佔25%，第4廠今年9月投入生產後的比例為80對20，第5廠營運後比例調整回70對30。

他說，該公司會繼續立足大馬，不急於往海外擴展，同時也不急於收購歐美或海外其他經銷商，目前未有固定收購目標與計劃，只是等待良機。

提到會否接受頂級手套（TOPGLOV，7113；主板工業產品組）的收購時，他說該公司目前剛剛上市，而在丁晴工藝方面具有優勢，因此不會脫售公司，也不會邀請外來者加股。

想请问，如果顶级从open market大举买入Harta股票而变成大股东，到时候不由得Harta说不邀请外来者参股啊～

Hartalega plans to raise synthetic gloves production to 2.5 billion units

KUALA LUMPUR: Hartalega Holdings Bhd hopes to increase its production of synthetic latex gloves by 2.5 billion units a year when its fourth plant comes on stream in September.

Managing director Kuan Kam Hon said synthetic latex gloves were a niche product that had a steady demand growth, especially in the healthcare industry.

“We hope to fulfil the demand for synthetic gloves in our existing markets before entering new markets in China, India, Russia and the Middle East,” he told reporters after the company's listing on the Bursa Malaysia main board yesterday.

Hartalega produced both synthetic latex gloves and natural rubber gloves at the ratio of 75:25, Kuan said.

To date, the group had spent about RM100mil on the construction of its fourth plant that would give an additional production capacity of 2.9 billion gloves per annum.

Additionally, its fifth plant, construction of which was scheduled to start in July and complete by 2010, was expected to produce an additional 3.1 billion gloves per year, he said.

With the completion of its two new plants, Hartalega's production capacity was expected to increase to 9.3 billion pieces per annum from 3.3 billion now.

Hartalega's three plants now were operating at about 75% to 77% capacity, said Kuan.

Currently, it exports to over 24 countries, with the US market contributing 69% to group turnover.

Kuan said the group's current borrowings stood at US$15mil to US$18mil.

Hartalega shares hit a high of RM2.02 and a low of RM1.88 before closing at RM1.91 for a 11 sen gain over its initial public offer price of RM1.80.

Hartalega was the most active counter with 22.8 million shares traded.

我敢说星期一会涨到RM1.96后快速回跌到RM1.80水平，到时候看看那些前几日在RM1.90++买票的炒手们要不要卖。卖的话可能赚少许不卖就等着被套。这庄稼本钱不够要套到足够的钱和散户后才会发功。
