MCE awarded RM125m Proton contract

Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd has secured a five-year contract from Proton Holdings Bhd, worth an estimated RM125 million.

Its managing director, Jimmy Lim Ming Kee, said the contract was to develop and supply rear combination lamps for one of Proton's new models, slated for launch in early 2012.

He said the company had in 2009 signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)with Hella Australia Pty Ltd on technical collaboration.

"The company, with the collaboration of Hella Australia, had secured the award from Proton," he told a media briefing after formalising the MOU with the signing the technical assistance agreement (TAA) with Hella Australia here today.
He said the contract served as the first joint product to kickstart the TAA and the supply was expected to commence in the third quarter of the company's financial year ending July 31, 2012.

"With this initial echievement, I am confident and look forward to more joints products to be developed between us for the original equipment manufacturers (OEM) in Malaysia," he said.

Lim said the agreement entailed the bringing together and blending of shared resources between Hella Australia and Multi-Code in the design, development and manufacture of reliable and quality car lightings.

"This partnership will boost Malaysia's competitiveness in the regional car industry. It is indeed a positive development which would showcase Malaysia's car industry's credentials," he said.

He said the TAA would augur well for Multi-Code in its drive to diversify and expand its products range and fulfil the demand of OEM in Malaysia and position itself to explore the pentration of the regional market.

"Over the last three years, we have expanded diversified our products range," he said.

Lim said apart from Hell Australia, the company has also collaborated with Hella Shanghai Electronics Co Ltd and Mayur Industries Ltd India. -- Bernama

普腾与印度业者谈组装汽车

（吉隆坡28日讯）根据普腾管理层，普腾计划提高本地市占率和扩大业务版图，目前正与印度一家业者洽谈，以在当地设立汽车组装厂房。

达证券行分析员表示，一旦印度的联营计划能够落实，将为普腾提供庞大的机会，特别是当地引擎排量较小的汽车具有很大的市场。

本地业务方面，普腾放眼今年的市占率能提高至30%，而根据大马车业公会（MAA）预计，全年的汽车总销量为61万8000辆，30%市占率相等于18万5400辆汽车（意味着普腾的汽车销量按年涨17.9%）。

分析员指出，在有利的经济因素和股市来带的财富效应直辖，预计将能提高普腾的汽车销量，加上Exora-Turbo将在今年中旬推出，将推动其盈利增长。

预估销量16.9万辆

尽管如此，分析员维持普腾汽车销量7%增长预测，估计2011年的汽车销量为16万9130辆。

此外，普腾目前也依据计划，于明年推出Pesona替代车款和“生态移动先进方案”（EMAS）汽车，但管理层不愿透露引擎容量和揭露合作伙伴
