这个题目出现在 小学 级 的数学作业里。
那时他们刚刚学%这个符号,那个问题是要学生了解明白%的意思和价值(value),%这个符号意思和价值是/100或者是0.01
就好像
0.5 - 5x, where x = 1/100

Percent = 百份比 = 就是百份之几的意思。。。
Percentage = 百分率 = 就是有一个 reference 做准。。。
然而这题目是一个式子的,所以可以当 Percent 来处理。。。
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percentage
Calculations:
The fundamental concept to remember when performing calculations with percentages is that the percent symbol can be treated as being equivalent to the pure number constant 1 / 100 = 0.01. , for an example 35% of 300 can be written as (35 / 100) × 300 = 105.
To find the percentage of a single unit in a whole of N units, divide 100% by N. For instance, if you have 1250 apples, and you want to find out what percentage of these 1250 apples a single apple represents, 100% / 1250 = (100 / 1250)% provides the answer of 0.08%.
也就是说 1 可以当 100/100 来处理
To calculate a percentage of a percentage, convert both percentages to fractions of 100, or to decimals, and multiply them. For example, 50% of 40% is:
(50 / 100) × (40 / 100) = 0.50 × 0.40 = 0.20 = 20 / 100 = 20%.
一定成功 网友的 0.5 - 5%% = ?
It is not correct to divide by 100 and use the percent sign at the same time. (E.g. 25% = 25 / 100 = 0.25, not 25% / 100, which actually is (25 / 100) / 100 = 0.0025.)

What's the difference between percent and percentage?
Date: 08/18/2002 at 09:25:56
From: Doctor Sarah
Subject: Re: Math
Hi Alex - thanks for writing to Dr. Math.
Percent and percentage are often confused in both speech and writing.
From Merriam-Webster Online:
http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary
percent
1 plural percent
a : one part in a hundred
b : PERCENTAGE (a large percent of his income)
percentage
1 a : a part of a whole expressed in hundredths
b : the result obtained by multiplying a number
by a percent
2 a : a share of winnings or profits
b : ADVANTAGE, PROFIT (no percentage in going
around looking like an old sack of laundry
-- Wallace Stegner)
3 : an indeterminate part : PROPORTION
4 a : PROBABILITY
b : favorable odds
The use of percent for percentage is becoming more and more common:
The Columbia Guide to Standard American English
http://www.bartleby.com/68/11/4511.html
percent, percentage (nn.)
" Percentage is the more widely accepted noun,
especially in Edited English, but Informal use
of percent (What percent of your time do you spend
watching TV?) seems thoroughly established...."
But see Prof. Charles Darling's online Guide to Grammar and Writing
(recommended):
http://ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/notorious2.htm
"We use the word percent as part of a numerical
expression (e.g., Only two percent of the
students failed.). We use the word percentage
to suggest a portion (e.g., The percentage of
students who fail has decreased.)."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percent_sign
The percent sign (%) is the symbol used to indicate a percentage (that the preceding number is divided by one hundred). It is represented in Unicode by U+0025.
Related signs include the permille (per thousand) sign ‰ (Unicode: U+2030) and the permyriad (per ten thousand) sign ‱ (Unicode: U+2031; also known as a basis point), which indicate that a number is divided by one thousand or ten thousand respectively. Higher proportions use parts-per notation.
But, at least in more formal writing, there SHOULD be space, as brochure of SI says in chapter 5: "a space separates the number and the symbol %"
In some languages, however, there are specific rules of spacing in front of the percent sign. In Czech, for example, the percent sign is spaced if the number is used as a noun, while no space is inserted if the number is used as an adjective (e.g. "a 50% increase".[6] In Finnish, the percent sign is always spaced, and a case suffix can be attached to it using the colon (e.g. 50 %:n kasvu 'an increase of 50 %').[citation needed] In French, the percent sign is also always spaced because the percent is considered as a unit.[citation needed] In traditional Russian typography there is a set rule to space it by 3 pt but it is not that common nowadays.
给 Isotope 网友的:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimensionless
Dimensionless quantities are widely used in the fields of mathematics, physics, engineering, and economics but also in everyday life. Whenever one measures any physical quantity, they are measuring that physical quantity against a like dimensioned standard. Whenever one commonly measures a length with a ruler or tape measure, they are counting tick marks on the standard of length they are using, which is a dimensionless number. When they attach that dimensionless number (the number of tick marks) to the units that the standard represents, they conceptually are referring to a dimensional quantity. A quantity Q is defined as the product of that dimensionless number n (the number of tick marks) and the unit U (the standard)
But, ultimately, people always work with dimensionless numbers in reading measuring instruments and manipulating (changing or calculating with) even dimensional quantities.
In case of dimensionless quantities the unit U is a quotient of like dimensioned quantities that can be reduced to a number (kg/kg = 1, μg/g = 10-6). Dimensionless quantities can also carry dimensionless units like % (=0.01), ppt (=10-3), ppm (=10-6), ppb (=10-9).

你比较理性,
我想问你~
Whenever we talk about a percentage, it is important to specify what it is relative to, i.e. what the total is that corresponds to 100%.
意思是,
% 前面一定要有数值,
还是 x% 前面一定要有数值? |

如果我有侮辱你的文凭的意思,
我在这里诚心向你道歉。。。
不过,从你查书和找教授的做法,
可见得你是有责任感的人,
谢谢你尽心解答 ,
换是我,我都无法这么尽心,惭愧 。。。
不过,对 ...
对于巴仙定律,
是在工程的书上的,
如果你想要知道,
需要去找回那本书然后scan进来。
教授只所以说会Ignore,
是因为题目本身有问题。
如果只是一个(5%),
他本身并不能代表什么。
如果Isotope网友说的,
如果5%本身代表0.05,
那么以后如果我算出来一个题目的答案是20,
是不是我也可以写2000%作为答案?
5%=0.05只是在于容易计算而已,
并不完全是代表5%=0.05

可以告诉我们你问什么大学的教授吗?
如果怕侵犯他的隐私, 可以只说大学的名字,而不说他的名字~
Edith Cowen University of Western Australia
虽然已经解释了那么多,
甚至还直接问过了教授,
还是有些人存心上来连灌三贴侮辱别人,
原来这就是马来西亚教育出来的人。
给Isotope:

所以1X5%=1X5/100 或 1X0.05
