Bayern Munich have set a modest ransom fee for Mario Gotze. Liverpool strongly linked.
Reports out of Germany say that Bayern Munich will ask for just £31.5million to relinquish Mario Gotze, via Liverpool ECHO.
If these reports are true, Liverpool should send the money right now before Juventus or Chelsea make the deal. With Jurgen Klopp growing so close with Gotze during their time together at Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool have a real shot to sign the 23-year-old.
To emphasize: HE’S JUST 23 YEARS OLD! Gotze has scored the winning goal in a World Cup Final and been one of the Bundesliga’s best players whilst at Dortmund before moving to Bayern, where playing time has been inconsistent, as has his form.
If Gotze really is available for such a small fee, considering the money spent on Raheem Sterling and Anthony Martial, it would be an immense coup for the club. The ECHO report that Klopp has told the Anfield board that Gotze would be ‘perfect’ to partner with Philippe Coutinho.
An attack of Coutinho, Gotze and Roberto Firmino would be up there with the best in the Premier League. Coutinho is still just 23 as well as Firmino being just 24. Theoretically, all three players will only continue to get better. All will be 24 by the start of next season, as well.
Irrespective of the fact that they operate in similar territory, Coutinho and Firmino have proved their elasticity. Coutinho has proved his ability on the left flank, cutting in on his delightful right peg, while Firmino has played some of his best football at striker. The three would be interchangeable in the front part of the team.
It’s the hope that kills you and the fact that this move is so plausible with his outward desire to leave, Bayern’s willingness to sell and Gotze’s relationship with Klopp only sets us up for horrid disappointment when Juventus are unveiling Gotze as a new signing in July.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been handed £100m with which to reshape his inconsistent squad over the Summer.
The Daily Star report that the German coach is looking to replace goalkeeper Simon Mignolet with either Stoke City's Jack Butland or Southampton's Fraser Forster.
Klopp is believed to be growing tired of the Belgian stopper, who has made quite a few mistakes this season, and is ready to sell him, despite the player having signed a new contract earlier this year.
Butland currently owns the safest pair of hands in the Premier League right now, and has been absolutely magnificent since replacing Asmir Begovic, who left for Chelsea last Summer.
Forster is in great form as well, and is one of the Saints' most important players this season.
Either keeper would probably do well at Liverpool. They're both having super seasons at their respective clubs and seem a better option than Mignolet at the moment.
The Reds have also been linked with loads of world-class talents such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dennis Praett and Martin Caceres.
They have played better under Klopp this season, albeit not markedly, when compared with results under Brendan Rodgers. Their defending has been a real sore point so far, and Mignolet isn't making things any better between the sticks.
