SINGAPORE, Aug 27, 2015:

Singapore’s Foreign Minister K.Shanmugam says the weakening ringgit and Malaysia’s slowing economy is not beneficial to Singapore.

Channel NewsAsia reported the minister as saying this at a forum entitled, “Small state diplomacy: Challenges and opportunity for Singapore” organised by the Singapore Press Club today.

Shanmugam said Singaporeans may think the weakening of the Malaysian currency to the point that S$1 is equivalent to RM3 is a good thing, when they go on a shopping trip across the Causeway.

However, in reality, he added, there could be implications for the weak ringgit, given Singapore’s economic links with Malaysia.

As Singapore is the biggest investor in Iskandar Malaysia, he said: “Any trouble there is a serious issue for us.”

当然，全部去马拉买东西，谁在新加坡买？一堆大马人涌进新加坡工作，新加坡人吃什么。一堆马拉车弄到新加坡马路塞。工厂要搬去jb，新加坡就惨。已经小到没有市场，现在变成没市场。旅游业也少了游客。赌场没人。
新加坡最大的水喉是retail,cargo(logistics)和旅游业。

新加坡面对的问题不少啊。
如果是猪部长，他们就说好非常好，可以去马拉买便宜，出国玩便宜。这种肤浅的见解

最开心的是负责大百货的，进口货越来越便宜，还可以卖一样价钱或更高
