KUALA LUMPUR: Koperasi Amanah Pelaburan Bhd (KAPB), an investment cooperative in Malaysia, now owns a 51% stake in the Exchange 106 Tower at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX).

KAPB chairman Ilyas Mohamed confirmed this to the media today, saying the deal was signed more than a year ago but details will be finalised by June.

“It was delayed because of Covid-19,” he said, adding that the 51% stake was partly obtained from the finance ministry and from the Mulia Group.

While he could not reveal the amount of money involved in the takeover of the stake, Ilyas said: “It was a fantastic deal.”

Asked how KAPB could afford to raise the money for the takeover, he simply said KAPB raised the funds through its members.

“The building was completed two years ago and is now 30-40% occupied. Because of Covid-19, it’s a little slow.

“Once we get all the important financial centres in, the rest will follow,” he said at a press conference after an event at the TRX skyscraper here today.

The Minister of Finance Inc (MOF Inc), via its wholly-owned unit MKD Signature Sdn Bhd, took over 51% of the shareholding in Mulia Property Development in July 2017.

In 2018, it was reported that the finance ministry and Mulia would jointly develop the skyscraper, which was completed a year later.

Asked about the decision to take over the stake in view of the glut in office space lately, Ilyas said the perception among foreigners would change if Malaysians did not talk bad about the nation’s economic situation.

He also said Putrajaya should start giving more incentives for local businessmen to invest domestically.

“There are a lot of them (local businessmen) who don’t want to invest in Malaysia. Why? (There’s) no direction.

“So the government has to start giving locals the incentive to start. We cannot do all this as businessmen, the government has to do it.”

Deposit-taking co-operatives were a form of non-banking financial company (NBFC) in Malaysia. It started with Chinese Society but later several Malay co-operatives were set up. Some became insolvent which led to a run on banks in 1986.[1] The Cooperative Central Bank and 23 other deposit-taking co-operatives had their assets frozen by the Malaysian central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia.[2] Their crash caused a major political crisis when the government was requested to bail out risk-taking investors. The Malaysian cabinet eventually did approve a plan to reimburse the depositors in the failed co-operatives[3] but the co-operative sector of the economy never recovered.[4]

These institutions became identified as a type of pyramid scheme because of the need to continuously attract new depositors in order to meet obligations. Now, these schemes are outlawed and are known as Kuttu or get-rich-quick schemes. On October 20, 2008 [5] Bank Negara Malaysia seized several more institutions: BuluhMas, Jazmeen (of Indian/Mamak origins), Noradz and Eastana Farms.

Officially, these deposit-taking co-operatives are subject to the financial acts governed by the Minister of Finance. Malaysia Companies house SSM have recently released the top 100 Co-ops list on their site for the public perusal.[6] Organisations which are not banks or do not have Koperasi and Berhad in their name are not allowed to take deposits. Some only allow memberships from their own related company and may allow family members to join in (commonly known as Friendly Mutual in the UK).

这种东西，就算是undertable，程序也是要走的

就算是去年4月签，程序也是希联年代搞的。。。

除非林神站出来像主公纳吉这样骂PN政府贱卖国家资产，不然他就是有份贱卖国家资产

Now KAPB denies buying 51% stake in TRX tower

PETALING JAYA: An investment cooperative has clarified that it has not acquired a 51% stake in the Exchange 106 Tower at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), saying that there has been a “miscommunication”.

In a statement to FMT, Koperasi Amanah Pelaburan Bhd (KAPB) said it had “inadvertently communicated” to the media on Friday that it had acquired the stake in the development.

Then, KAPB chairman Ilyas Mohamed confirmed the purchase of a 51% stake in Mulia Property Development, which developed Exchange 106, saying the deal was signed more than a year ago but details will be finalised by June.

He said the stake had been purchased from the finance ministry and the Mulia Group. While he declined to reveal the amount of money involved, Ilyas described it as a “fantastic deal”.

This led to questions from former prime minister Najib Razak and Klang MP Charles Santiago over the lack of details on the takeover of the finance ministry’s stake in the development.

KAPB today explained that its affiliate company, AP Holding Bhd has entered into an agreement with the Mulia Group on a strategic partnership which includes the option to acquire a stake in Exchange 106 subject to the finance ministry’s consent.

“At this juncture, we confirm that no acquisition of the shares in the Exchange 106 has taken place nor is there a need to enter into an agreement with the finance ministry and/or its affiliated companies with regard to the Exchange 106.”

过账了再说，林神年代签了合同，毁约金xxx，我们PN政府只好服从，乖乖把国家资产卖给本地不知名穆斯林企业

然后拿了钱，再派出去换选票

本地不知名穆斯林企业三年后破产暴雷，再给当时的政府来插手相助，然后再大骂林冠英
