PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian hotel industry, which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, is expected to almost double its average occupancy rate (AOR) during the Hari Raya week later this month.

According to data by the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), the AOR for hotels in the country stood at 20.5% during the first two months of this year.

MAH president Datuk N. Subramaniam (pic) said the AOR is expected to rise to nearly 40% during the Hari Raya week, which is still a lot lower compared with pre-pandemic levels.
