REMINDER OF SECURITIES COMMISSION GUIDELINES ON ONLINE UNIT TRUST ACTIVITIES
This is a reminder to reiterate that, on 19 August 2008, the SC issued a set of guidelines called “Guidelines on Online Transactions and Online Activities in Relation to Unit Trusts” (Guidelines). Under the Guidelines item 3.01, online activities in relation to unit trusts means the utilisation of Internet or other electronic medium to market, promote, distribute or provide information in relation to collective investment schemes and Online Provider means a person who is approved to provide any facilities for online transactions of or online activities in relation to unit trusts, and is limited to the following persons:
a) Management companies
b) IUTA
c) Such other entities as may be determined by SC in accordance with such terms and conditions as the SC deems fit. Pxxxxxxxxxxl would like to remind all unit trust consultants to refrain from any marketing activities of Pxxxxxx unit trust products on unit trust consultant’s personal websites, blog, facebook and/or any other electronic medium, including email. This includes electronic prospectus, fund fact sheet, fund icon and visual, fund related press release, web banner, EPF material and keyword or pop-up advertisements which directly relate to one or more funds.
The management views the non-compliance of the said Guidelines as a serious offence and will take stern action against any UTC, including termination of the
