Crude Futures Hit Record $100 a Barrel on Supply Concerns After Violence Breaks Out in Nigeria
NEW YORK (AP) -- Crude oil prices briefly soared to $100 a barrel Wednesday for the first time, reaching that milestone amid an unshakeable view that global demand for oil and petroleum products will outstrip supplies.

Surging economies in China and India fed by oil and gasoline have sent prices soaring over the past year, while tensions in oil producing nations like Nigeria and Iran have increasingly made investors nervous and invited speculators to drive prices even higher.
Violence in Nigeria helped give crude the final push to $100. Bands of armed men invaded Port Harcourt, the center of Nigeria's oil industry Tuesday, attacking two police stations and raiding the lobby of a major hotel. Word that several Mexican oil export ports were closed due to rough weather added to the gains, as did a report that OPEC may not be able to meet its share of global oil demand by 2024.
Light, sweet crude for February delivery rose $4.02 to $100 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, according to Brenda Guzman, a Nymex spokeswoman, before slipping back to settle at a record close of $99.62, up $3.64. |

SAAG rises steadily on plan for bond issue

PETALING JAYA: SAAG Consolidated (M) Bhd, whose share price has been climbing steadily since it proposal to issue up to US$60mil exchangeable bonds early last month, continued to attract buying interest yesterday.
Despite being thinly traded, the counter touched an intra-day high of RM6.15 before closing at RM6.05 for a 35 sen gain as the day's second top gainer.
Analysts said they were unaware of any new developments in the company. They said investors bought into the counter on belief there would be positive development in the company.
Analysts also said SAAG was poised to benefit from the booming oil and gas (O&G) sector.
On Dec 3, the oil support services firm proposed to raise up to RM496.2mil from a one-for-one renounceable rights issue and the sale of US-denominated exchangeable bonds. The rights issue is expected to raise up to RM295.8mil, whereas the exchangeable bonds are expected to rake in RM200.4mil.
SAAG will set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Labuan to facilitate the bond sale.
Proceeds from the exercise will be used to fund SAAG's capital expenditure and projects, for working capital as well as to repay bank borrowings and expenses.
The company has also proposed a one-into-10 share-split exercise. It also plans to increase its authorised share capital to RM500mil following the share split and rights issue.
SAAG chief executive officer Anand Subramanian told StarBiz the company planned to expand both vertically and horizontally to widen its earning base.
He said the move would enable the company to tap opportunities arising from the strong growth in the O&G sector.
“We will move towards more upstream and drilling activities.
“We are bidding for two work-over services totalling about RM60mil per annum,” Anand said, adding that SAAG would know the tender results in June.
SAAG would also expand its manpower consultancy, design and engineering services through acquisitions, he said.
On its financial performance, Anand said the company hoped to perform better in the financial year ended Dec 31, 2008.
Meanwhile, The Goldman Sachs Group Inc recently acquired 50,000 more shares in SAAG, bringing its total equity in the company to 5.54 million shares or 8.99%. |

试问Goldman Sachs 和UBS AG London会无段段买股吗？
还要是二板股，如果连他们都买进大数量，很可能他们懂了一些我们不懂的消息，内幕或未来的前景。 |
